A&V Squires appoints Towergate Risk Solutions

Towergate Risk Solutions Nottingham has today announced that it is to provide insurance and risk management services to A&V Squires Ltd – one of the East Midland’s largest civil engineering and plant hire companies and a major contractor on the £51m Nottingham Left Bank Flood Alleviation Scheme.

From its headquarters in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, A&V Squires is a firmly established family-owned business with a national reach. Its blue chip clients include the Environment Agency, Kier Construction, Laing O’Rourke, British Gypsum, Nottinghamshire County Council, Electricity Alliance, British Waterways, Jackson RWE and Alstom.

In addition to its civil engineering and plant hire operations, A&V Squires provides extensive groundworks, large-scale contract earthmoving services and supplies a range of recycled aggregates and materials.

Commenting on the appointment, Towergate Risk Solutions Account Director Derek Jones said: “A&V Squires has worked on some very high profile projects such as the new power station at Staythorpe near Newark. In order to continue their impressive growth and to maintain their excellent environmental, employee and health and safety track record, the company takes a very proactive approach to managing risks and ensuring compliance with all the necessary operating standards. Our role is to ensure the company understands and minimises its risks and has the appropriate insurance protection in place.”

A&V Squires Managing Director Rob Squires has known Mr Jones for over 30 years and is confident that Towergate Risk Solutions will deliver a comprehensive package.

Mr Squires said: “I know I can trust the Towergate team to review our business operations thoroughly to provide us with an insurance and risk management programme that is tailored to meet our specific needs.

“This will help us to fulfill our strategy to protect the welfare of our employees, enhance our reputation and provide credibility to our clients, whilst also ensuring we fully meet or exceed all the required legislative requirements.”
